Eco-design is an environmental management tool centered on the product design phase and its respective production, distribution, and use processes, developing products and services that will somehow reduce the use of non-renewable resources or minimize the environmental impact. during its life cycle.

Eco-design is fundamental in the industrial production process, a strategy that tries to prolong the value of products indefinitely, keeping them within a closed circuit and free from waste. The design with sustainable materials allows the goods of the circular economy to end their useful life in conditions of having new functions, unlike the linear economy, which is based on the principle of buying, using, and disposing of.

Material

MDF (Medium-density fiberboard) patchwork boards and leftovers from the industrial process. I use reconstituted leather composed of leather fibers, natural latex, and other plant agents that, combined according to an exclusive and patented formulation, produce a material with an unmatched appearance, flexibility, and strength. Metalon tube structure 20x20mm

ECO TABLE-MODE arose from the need to reuse some materials that were discarded in the manufacturing process of planned furniture companies, so we were able to develop a new product with an efficient solution that could be scaled to an industrial line and be able to generate demand without compromise with the lack of raw material.

Our biggest challenge was to discover how to use the same MDF pattern in a single product, and for the manufacture of the tabletop, we use the scraps generated during the manufacturing process at the factory and how we work with a catalog of over 300 colors to find color in ended up being a challenge to make a scalable product. As a solution, we developed 150x150mm square plates and made an application of residual scraps also generated within the planned furniture production process.

For the base of the table, we use the leftover Metalon tubes (carbon steel tubes) which are excellent for the interior decoration process because besides being an affordable material, it has a high resistance and a crucial factor is to be anticorrosive and antioxidant with 10-year durability and an electrostatic paint.

The result was a scalable product with the use of leftover material that combined generate a new product and that can be modulated to reach various formats. To arrive at the final result we had to work on several solutions, in one of them we thought about the possibility of even structuring the MDF scraps to create products with circular shapes, but this process proved to be inefficient for the sustainable standard as it would require another process of automotive paint that would generate new waste.
