Today the dimension of children's literature is much broader and more important. It provides the child with indisputable emotional, social, and cognitive development. In this sense, the sooner the child comes into contact with books and realizes the pleasure that reading produces, the greater the likelihood that he will become an adult reader. In the same way, through reading, the child acquires a critical-reflexive posture, extremely relevant to their cognitive formation.
During its development, the child goes through psychological stages that need to be observed and respected when it comes to the school of books for him. These stages do not depend exclusively on your age, but according to your level of psychic, affective and intellectual maturation and your level of knowledge and mastery of the reading mechanism. In this sense, it is necessary to adapt books to the different stages that the child normally goes through. There are five categories that guide the child's psychological development phases: the pre-reader, the beginning reader, the in-process reader, the fluent reader, and the critical reader.
For the development of the project, I noticed a need in the preparation of a book for the pre-reader stage: a category that comprises two phases; Early childhood (from 15/17 months to 3 years) At this stage the child begins to recognize the world around him through affective contact and touch. For this reason, she feels the need to pick up or touch everything in her reach; Second childhood (from 2/3 years old) is the beginning of the self-centered phase. It is more adapted to the physical environment and increases its capacity and interest in verbal communication. As she is also interested in recreational activities, “playing” with the book will be important and significant for her.
In this phase, the appropriate books must present a family context, with an absolute predominance of the image that should suggest a situation. Little written text should be presented since it is through the naming of things that the child will establish a relationship between reality and the world of books.
The line of research was teaching and the theme was chosen due to several themes that have been addressed throughout the times and that have always caught my attention, such as Children's Education and Literacy, Children's Literature in Brazil, Children's Literature in the Education Process literacy, among others.
Provide knowledge to the child through a soft text with the main emphasis on drawings by the watercolor process and help the process of analytical and reflective development in children.
